2017-18 Alliance-Airborne Coaching Staff
The 15-1 team is under the direction of John Stephens. John has coached at both the Middle School and High School levels and is in his 8th season of coaching. In 2 years as a Middle School coach at Carroll Oakland Elementary the team won back to back WCVA Tournament Championships. He then spent 2 seasons as the JV Coach at Lebanon High School. In 2012 his Blue Devil JV team won the Central Magnet High School Tournament and 2013 finished 2nd in the District. John is now the Head Coach at Friendship Christian School. His 2015 and 2016 teams both advanced to Substate, the 2016 team finishing with a record of 38-13. In July of 2017, John took over as the Head Coach at Franklin Road Academy. John is also the founder and Director of Airborne Volleyball and is an Impact Certified Coach. Upon the merger with Alliance, John serves as the Site Coordinator for the newly formed Alliance-Airborne Program.
My name is Maci Lerno I am from El Centro, CA. I played at Palomar College my first two years of college. At Palomar I was named first conference both years of play and team MVP. I then transferred to Cumberland University in TN. My first year of play I was named first team all conference. I am now finishing my Senior year at Cumberland University. I am going on to my third year of coaching with Alliance-Airborne. Maci is also the Head Coach at Friendship Christian.
My name is Kara Snell, I am from Birmingham, AL and I am a sophomore at Cumberland University. I am a marketing major and I am a DS/L on the Cumberland volleyball team. I played for Southern Performance Volleyball Club as well as Hoover High School, where I graduated. I earned a Player of the Week honor for the Mid-South Conference last season and was named to the Dean’s List in the spring semester of my freshman year. I am a huge Auburn fan and love watching college football when I get the chance. I also love watching netflix, hanging out with friends, and of course playing volleyball. This will be my second year coaching for Alliance.
Caprisha Webster is a native of Johnson City. She attended Science Hill High school and was a 4 year member of the Varsity volleyball team. Caprish spent her Freshman year at Lee University before transfering to Cumberland University. She is a Middle Hitter on the CU Volleyball team and is pursing a degree in Psychology. This is Caprisha’s second season with Alliance-Airborne.
My name is Jena Goodman, I play at Cumberland University here in Lebanon. I am originally from Murfreesboro Tennessee, and I played for Riverdale High School for 4 years and graduated in 2014. I played for Alliance Volleyball Club satellite out of Murfreesboro, TN for four years. This will be my third season with Alliance-Airborne. I’m excited for this season.
Graduated in May 2013 from Dickson County High School (Tennessee) with highest honors and in the top percent of the class. She is currently a junior at Cumberland University majoring in Biology with a Pre-Med focus. Her future goal is to become a pediatric Physician’s Assistant.
The three year letter-winning setter for Dickson County High School was named team captain for the 2011 and 2012 season. She helped lead team to the Regional Tournament for two consecutive years. She led her team to win the District 10AAA championship in 2012. Perez was named to the District 10AAA All-District Team (2011&2012), the District 10AAA All-Tournament Team (2011&2012), and the Region 5AAA All-Region Team (2011) during her high school career. She finished her senior year being ranked second on team in blocks and kills while leading in service aces and assists. Perez played for a local travel team for four years before playing at Alliance in Franklin (Tennessee) for her last three seasons. She was named captain for each of these seasons. Perez signed with Cumberland University in January 2013…becoming the first in her county to ever sign a volleyball scholarship. In 2014 she was starting setter running a 5-1 offense for Cumberland University. She was also co-captain for the 2014 season. In September (2014) she was named NAIA Mid-South Conference Player of the week. Perez was awarded Academic All Mid-South Conference (2014 & 2015). (2014) She finished 3rd in the conference for service aces and 5th in the conference for assists. She led her team in aces and assists while being ranked 2nd in digs and 5th in blocks and kills. 2014 stats…. 701 assists, 33 aces, 178 digs, 70 kills, and 32 total blocks. She is a senior this year playing right side/middle.
Her love for young athletes and her passion for the game led Perez to start coaching. This is her fourth year coaching at Alliance after previously co-coaching the 16-2 and 12-1 teams.
Coach Lowe returned to coach at Alliance in 2013 as the 15-2 assistant coach after a year spent playing volleyball professionally overseas with Turnverein Dingolfing in Germany. Lowe played collegiately at Tennessee State University for two seasons, leading the Lady Tigers to the 2007 Ohio Valley Conference Championship. She was twice named OVC Offensive Player of the Week during her senior year. She has coached for 8 years, 4 of which were spent at Tennessee State University. This is her 3rd year coaching
